Connect Box and automatically process new files added to a selected folder

Connect Box to a parser so new files added to a selected folder become PARSER documents automatically.

Before you start

You need a Box account and a parser with the fields you want to extract. PARSER can show folders that the connected Box user is allowed to open.

PARSER starts checking from the moment you save the configuration. Files already in the selected folder are not imported.

Add Box

1. Open your parser and go to Settings -> Integrations.

2. Under Import sources, find Import from Box.

3. Click Add.

4. Expand Import from Box under Added integrations.

Connect your account

1. Click Connect Box.

2. Sign in to the Box account that contains the folder.

3. Review the requested access and approve the connection.

4. Return to PARSER and select the connected account if it is not already selected.

Click Connect another account if you need to use a different Box account. One selected account and folder are monitored by this parser at a time.

Select the import folder

1. Open folders in the PARSER folder browser until you reach the folder you want to monitor.

2. Click Select this folder.

3. Confirm that the selected path appears below the browser.

Turn on Include subfolders to also import new files added inside nested folders. Leave it off to monitor only files added directly to the selected folder.

Test and save

1. Click Test folder access.

2. Confirm that PARSER says the folder is accessible.

3. Click Save configuration.

4. Confirm that Monitoring active appears beside Import from Box.

Add a new file

Upload, copy, restore, or move a new supported file into the selected Box folder. PARSER checks Box every minute, so the file normally appears in the parser's Document Inbox within one or two minutes.

The source file remains in Box. PARSER imports each Box file once, so renaming, editing, or moving an imported file does not create another PARSER document.

Supported files and limits

The integration imports supported downloadable files up to 100 MB. Empty files, web links, and unsupported formats are skipped. See Supported Files and Processing Limits for the complete list.

If files do not arrive

  • Confirm that Monitoring active is shown. Monitoring delayed means PARSER will check Box again automatically.
  • Confirm that the file was added after you saved the configuration.
  • Check whether Include subfolders matches where the file was added.
  • Click Test folder access to confirm the connected account can still open the folder.
  • If you see Needs reconnection, click Reconnect and approve access again.
  • If you see Folder unavailable or Monitoring failed, correct the folder access and click Restart.

Changing the account, folder, or Include subfolders setting starts monitoring from Box's current state. Files already present in the new scope are not imported.
